At the first Gutai Open-Air Exhibition, Sadamasa Motonaga presented a work in which he pasted a long piece of polyethylene between many trees and poured colored water into it. He said in his lecture, "At that time, we didn't have much money, so we bought cheap materials like plastic sheets, put them around the trees, and poured water into them, and interesting shapes were created. The water was colored and it flowed freely, eventually creating attractive colors and shapes in a stable place. In his later paintings, the flow of water and other liquids moves freely, dramatically expressing interesting colors and shapes. (It was called "Funny Art")
