Whitestone Gallery, Karuizawa is pleased to announce MADARA MANJI and HEBIME’s collaborative exhibition: “Archetype”.
Archetype is a coined term, indicating the state in which someone’s unconscious mind can be recognized as an image. While those two artists established their creation methods, they coincidentally employed similar working methods to produce their artwork, which have identical patterns on them. However, there are some clear differences between them also, such as the possibilities of what they can express in two-dimensional works and sculptures, and the thoughts on their creations.
This exhibition focuses on the idea of archetype to interpret their artwork, which embody common elements from their unconscious minds. This show is an attempt to examine the possibilities and limitations of the expressions of artwork. We cordially invite you to enjoy the show.
