Whitestone Gallery is pleased to hold a joint exhibition of Tadaaki Kuwayama and Rakuko Naito from May 25 to July 7, 2019. It is curated by Aaron Betsky who is the former director of the Cincinnati Art Museum. Also, the world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma and the independent curator Wang Yuling have been invited to join in a panel discussion. As one of the representative artists of minimalism, Tadaaki Kuwayama was invited to show his works "Minimalism: Space. Light. Object", National Gallery of Singapore. He studied Nihonga in Tokyo National University of Art. In 1958, he moves to New York with his wife and fellow artist, Rakuko Naito. He discovers the contemporary art scene in America and creates his own distinctive style. What you experience at "Beautiful Nothing" is nothing more or less than color, which Kuwayama presents in squares, rectangles, and columns, as well as in measured series of such geometric shapes. What you make of those colors and forms, how they affect you, or what you imagine based on your observations, is up to you. The artist hopes only to create a certain space --an emptiness filled with all his art brings forth, between you and the object on the wall. Represented artists: TADAAKI KUWAYAMA, RAKUKO NAITO
