Whitestone Ginza New Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Ahhi Choi “Trigger”.

Inspired by daily life and memories, Ahhi Choi had given a tangible form to inspiration as his heart leads. In 2020, the appearance of coronavirus knocked the bottom out of his creative stance. Invisible thread, the uncleared origin of the virus, and mistrust for the information that is discharged into our daily life-existing standards are overtaken by the widespread uncertainty.
Here, the will to visualize this “uncomfortable feeling” is triggered.
To his shape-shifting dynamism, pressing motivation for representation is added.

Focusing on his new series “Mosaic” and “Erase”, this exhibition is constructed by the multifaceted charms of Ahhi Choi, to say nothing of his extraordinary sense of coloration. Outer surface partially concealed by the mosaic or interrupted abruptly by the line; the concurrence of fluorescent colors keeps its toxicity while implicating everydayness. This very feel of incompatibility reflects on our time. It will be our great pleasure if this exhibition would be a trigger for the viewers to dig into “what our time is”, and to mark the certain passage of time when we count backward in the future.
