About Whitestone Gallery Taipei
I tried to make something that was neither architecture nor an interior. Usually, the architect handles the building and an interior designer handles the interior in the finished structure. But this gallery is neither. It is both architecture and interior.
In addition, I thought about making something here that was neither complete nor unfinished. I just piled up 105 mm square lumber of the kind used in the posts of a wooden house. Even though the material, rectangular lumber, is simply piled on the site, it conveys the feeling of something done intentionally; yet it is too casual to be considered a completed work. I thought that such a state of suspension was suitable for contemporary art.
