Renowned for her artistry, Miyako Terakura seamlessly blends slip-casting techniques with clay and employs the traditional "tebineri" hand-building method. Her creations draw inspiration from infants and toddlers, delicately capturing living beings' inherent purity and innocence. YU KAWASHIMA: PATHOS

Using traditional Japanese painting methods and extensively researched ink, Yu Kawashima invites viewers into his artistry. With a consistent emphasis on personal anxieties and a deliberate focus on young girls as his subjects, Kawashima delves into the intricacies of the human psyche. Through his work, he reveals the resilience of individuals confronting immediate uncertainties within the rapid evolution of an information-driven society.

In anticipation of the exhibition, an in-depth conversation between Kawashima and Meiji Hijikata, the Director of the Taro Okamoto Museum of Art in Kawasaki, explores the motivations behind their specialization in Japanese painting. This dialogue delves into the thematic inspirations that kindle their artistic creations, providing insights into the artistic journeys of these two distinguished figures.
