GUTAI DICTIONARY
Back to IndexChildren's Art (Kirin)
Children's free ideas and unadorned ways of expression greatly stimulated the activities of Gutai. Yozo Ukita, who was in charge of most of the publishing work for the children's poetry magazine "Kirin," visited Jiro Yoshihara to ask for a cover painting, and the two hit it off. After the foundation of Gutai, Ukita became a member of the group, and many of the works contributed by Gutai artists were published in "Kirin. Some of the members ran children's painting classes, and maintained a deep connection with children's art.
