Born in Chongqing, China, Wu Shuang is an outstanding young Abstract Expressionist painter known for her use of intense contrasting colours and surreal imagery in her artworks. In 2007, she pursued her studies at the Free Art Institution of Kassel University in Germany. In 2009, she graduated from the Oil Painting programme at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Wu Shuang furthered her education by completing a master's degree in Engraving at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2014. Currently, she resides and works as a professional artist in Beijing.
Wu Shuang's art is captivating and distinguished by her skilful use of colours, particularly colours of high purity and clarity. She skilfully blends bright colours that appear contrasting yet harmonious within her works. Moreover, her art exudes a profound and universal enthusiasm that is rare among Chinese female artists. Despite the apparent freedom and open-mindedness in her work, there is a sense of strict control, rationality, and discipline. Wu Shuang's art represents her adventurous spirit and continues to attract people of different generations. Her distinctive style has led to collaborations with prestigious brands such as Mercedes-Benz China International Fashion Week for three consecutive years.
